In 2019 4.3 M Israelis created 8.3 MILLION trips abroad (worldwide) which makes outbound travel amongst the highest per capita, worldwide. During the first 9 months of 2023, each month was at least 5% above the 2019 peak figures. After the initial collapse following 7/10, the Israelis rapidly return to travelling abroad. In January 2024, outbound traffic is back by 46%. By Q2, when most airlines are back, traffic is expected to reach pre-war levels.

Since October 2023, Israel has been engaged in a military conflict, which included attacks on cities and towns across the country. What is the economic impact?
THE ECONOMY CONTINUES TO GROW
The economic impact of the war is less dramatic than could have been expected. See the 4 prognoses of change of GDP in 2024 and 2025. This is mainly due to the strength of the Israeli high-tech industry, the US financial support, and more. These figures are based on the presumption that the war will end or slow down in March.

SHEKEL / NIS IS BACK TO PRE-WAR VALUE
During two weeks after 7/10, the NIS devaluated vs $ and €. Since 25.10, the NIS has regained strength and is getting closer to the pre-war high value. Before the war, the NIS was regarded as among the strongest currencies. This strength of the Israeli shekel has a major impact on outbound tourism. The Israelis can buy more Dollar and Euro-quoted products (like flights and hotels) with less shekels.

What about air connectivity?
AIRLINES RETURN TO BEN GURION AIRPORT
Most of the European and Asian carriers are returning to operate flights to Israel. Before the war, Turkish Airlines operated 10 daily flights to TLV. This airline will probably not return in 2024 due to the Turkish pro-Hamas policy. This will have a major impact on the Israeli travel map. Remark: Some major airlines did not yet announce (e.g. the US carriers and EasyJet) while others will probably not fly until Q4 (e.g. Turkish Airlines, Royal Jordanian, Royal Air Moroc).

CRUISE LINES WILL RETURN IN 2025
Cruising has become one of the leading trends of Israeli outbound tourism. In 2023, until the outbreak of the war, almost 300k Israelis boarded in Haifa the huge cruise ships, including MSC, Royal Caribbean, and NCL. This was 166% above the previous peak of 2019, before Covid. In August 2023, Haifa was awarded the prestigious Seatrade Cruise Awards for one of the three best cruise destinations. A new terminal is being built to enable the boarding of 1.2M cruise travellers per year. As of 7/10, all international cruise lines had to cancel their departures for 2024, hoping that they will be able to return in 2025. Opportunity: To which destination will these 300k Israelis book their 2024 vacation?

We believe that the high costs of the space and building booths and the mountains of waste are not the most cost-effective and sustainable tools for reaching out to the travel trade.

DAY#01
The hybrid solution for destinations and NTOs
TERRANOVA PAVILLION
On the first day of the fair, Terranova enables relevant destinations to conquer the fair during a 90-minute exclusive show. Our Terranova space of 200 sqm is divided into a "boarding gate" and a venue. Hand-picked and pre-registered tour operators, specialised travel agents and influencers will receive a boarding card to your event. Upon entry, they will be overwhelmed by exciting videos on huge screens. Our Terranova team dressed according to your brand requirements will meet them, offering your typical food and beverages.
TERRANOVA HYBRID
There will be a central stage with another big screen. If you can’t make it in person, you can introduce your destination or campaign from your home or office. We will conduct an attractive lucky draw for the attendees. They will receive a kit with your information material and (sustainable) goodies. We will share the database of all attendees, including their contact details. The logo and details of the NTO will appear in the official program and on screens throughout the fair.
DAY#02
The hybrid solution for hotels, DMCs and other private stakeholders
INTERNATIONAL HOTELS AND DMC EVENT
The second day will offer a different look and feel of our Terranova pavillion. In the main space, there will be 20 tables with two chairs for the Israelis and one screen for you. Again, only qualified buyers will be invited. During 15 minutes, you will have the opportunity to discuss how to increase business. We will have two events: one from 10:00-12:30 and one from 14:00-16:30. The first event is planned for our worldwide hotels and DMCs; the second one is for stakeholders from the Asian region. All participants will receive the database of all attendees.

YOUR BUSINESS PRESENTATION
We offer all partners the opportunity to invite the IMTM visitors for a dedicated presentation, in the meeting halls of the second floor of the fair. Up to 120 guests can listen to you (virtually or in person) or to our storytellers and country managers. This event will appear in the official agenda of the IMTM.
